Africa50 Infrastructure Acceleration Fund

Africa50 Infrastructure Acceleration Fund

Mobilizing local and global capital for African infrastructure is one of Africa50’s core strategic priorities. To advance this mission, we established the Africa50 Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF), a 12-year closed-end private equity fund designed to transform the role of African and international institutions in financing transformative infrastructure and unlocking Africa’s potential. Investors benefit from exposure to Africa50’s pan-African footprint, project development and de-risking expertise, late-stage equity investing, strong relationships with African governments, and access to a pipeline of attractive investment opportunities.

Key Highlights of the Fund

  • Investment Focus: The fund invests in diversified infrastructure sectors, including Power & Energy, Water & Sanitation, Transport & Logistics, and Digital & Social Infrastructure, with co-investment opportunities available.
  • Sustainable and Rigorous Strategy: The fund follows a rigorous investment strategy designed to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns, ensure geographic and sector diversification, and align with internationally recognized Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) best practices and the Paris Climate Agreement. The fund has ambitious impact goals built on frameworks such as the 2X Challenge and UN SDGs.
  • Experienced Leadership: Managed by industry experts with 160+ years’ combined experience, underpinned by oversight from a seasoned Investment Committee.
  • Funding Goal: The fund targets a final close of US$500 million in 2025, with circa US$300 million already committed by a diverse group of institutional investors, primarily African.
