Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented ESG Coordinator to support the effective integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Climate, and Sustainability principles into Africa50’s investment activities. This role contributes to ensuring responsible investment practices that align with international standards, regional development priorities, and Africa50’s long-term value creation objectives.
The Coordinator ESG, Climate and Sustainability will play a key enabling role within the Africa50 ESG, Climate & Sustainability team. The role will focus on data collection, reporting, operational support across the investment lifecycle, and the delivery of ad-hoc/ strategic ESG projects.
This position supports Africa50’s ambition to scale its ESG and development impact systems across multiple investment vehicles and to ensure high quality, consistent, timely, and accurate ESG data, analytics, and reporting.
Principal Responsibilities
The ESG Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:
Support the Senior ESG Manager in applying Africa50’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) throughout the investment process.
Assist with ESG due diligence, documentation, and preparation of ESG inputs for investment committee materials.
Support monitoring activities, including tracking ESG commitments and participating in site visits and audits.
Assist in collecting and maintaining ESG, climate, gender, and impact data across the portfolio.
Contribute to preparing internal and external ESG reports and help ensure alignment with recognized reporting standards.
Coordinate inputs from teams, consultants, and portfolio companies for timely reporting.
Help review ESG monitoring reports and support escalation and documentation of significant ESG incidents.
Contribute to research and insights to strengthen ESG practices across the portfolio.
Support ongoing improvements to the ESMS, tools, and templates.
Assist in developing ESG knowledge materials and supporting training or onboarding initiatives.
Provide coordination support for engagements with internal stakeholders, DFIs, consultants, and portfolio companies.
Assist in preparing presentations and materials for ESG-related sessions and communications.
Candidate Profile
Required background
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, finance, public policy, or other relevant field
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Environment, Climate, Sustainability and Governance fields in Africa and/or other Emerging Markets;
- Previous exposure to infrastructure, private equity, blended finance or development finance institutions is an asset;
- Strong connection to Africa and intent to pursue an Africa focused career.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Understanding of ESG concepts, ESG risk assessment, development impact, gender and climate related topics (GHG/ carbon accounting, TCFD, SDGs, etc.).
- Strong analytical and data management skills, including experience with Excel, Power BI, or equivalent tools
- Ability to synthesize complex ESG and technical content into clear summaries and structured outputs
- Basic understanding of ESG due diligence processes and international standards, especially IFC Performance Standards, AfDB Safeguards, Equator Principles

Location
Position is based in Casablanca, Morocco, with flexible working arrangements.
