Africa50 has raised over US$1 billion so far from 33 African countries, the African Development Bank, two African Central Banks and Africa’s largest pension fund. Africa50 has an independent investment process and seeks to generate commercial risk adjusted returns for its investments across key infrastructure sectors: Energy (including power generation and related parts of the value chain), Midstream gas, Transportation, ICT, Health infrastructure, Education and Fintech.
Purpose of the Role
The Office of the Group CEO supports Africa50's highest-priority strategic, investment, fundraising, institutional, and external engagement workstreams. The intern will provide analytical, research, drafting, and coordination support, gaining direct exposure to how corporate priorities, capital mobilization initiatives, and infrastructure transactions are advanced across the organization.
Principal Responsibilities
Strategy Implementation and Tracking: Support research, milestone tracking, action logs, and concise updates on strategic priorities, risks, dependencies, and next steps.
Fundraising and Institutional Positioning: Conduct investor and stakeholder research and help prepare briefing notes, talking points, market scans, and investor-facing materials.
Investment and Transaction Support: Prepare sector briefs, opportunity summaries, pipeline updates, and research on markets, sponsors, investors, and priority infrastructure transactions.
Research and Senior-Level Materials: Draft and edit clear, decision-useful presentations, memos, correspondence, and briefing materials for senior review.
Coordination and Special Projects: Maintain selected trackers, follow up on cross-functional deliverables, identify blockers, and support priority projects arising from the CEO Office agenda.
Candidate Profile
Required background
- Strong academic background and relevant exposure in strategy, finance, consulting, infrastructure, investment, development finance, public policy, law, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, research, writing, synthesis, and presentation skills.
- Ability to transform complex information into concise, structured, senior-ready materials.
- Commercial judgement and a strong interest in African infrastructure, investment, and capital mobilization.
- Professionalism, discretion, maturity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage changing priorities.
- Fluency in English; French is strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

The Office of the Group CEO operates at the pace of the principal. The intern selected for this role will be expected to meet a high standard of quality, responsiveness, and discretion.

By the end of the internship, success would include:
- High-quality research, briefing, drafting, and presentation support delivered on time;
- Clear contribution to CEO Office workstreams across corporate strategy implementation, fundraising, external engagement, and transaction support;
- Improved tracking and follow-through on selected action items and cross-functional priorities;
- Demonstrated understanding of Africa50’s business model, investment priorities, institutional positioning, and stakeholder environment;
- Strong judgment, discretion, reliability, and ability to operate under compressed timelines; and
- A clear performance case for conversion into an Associate-level role within the Office of the Group CEO.
Position Information
Location: Hybrid / Casablanca Headquarters
Duration: 3–6 months, with potential extension
Department and Reporting Line: CEO Office; reporting to the Special Assistants under the oversight of the Chief of Staff.
