Africa50 is an infrastructure investor and asset manager that contributes to Africa's growth by developing and investing in bankable projects, catalysing public sector capital, and mobilizing private sector funding.
Africa50 has raised over US$1 billion so far from 33 African countries, the African Development Bank, two African Central Banks and Africa’s largest pension fund. Africa50 has an independent investment process and seeks to generate commercial risk adjusted returns for its investments across key infrastructure sectors: Energy (including power generation and related parts of the value chain), Midstream gas, Transportation, ICT, Health infrastructure, Education and Fintech.
Purpose of the Role
This internship allows you to be a part of the growth story of a dynamic and growing pan-African organization. As internal auditor, you will be part of the audit and will be assigned specifics tasks.
Principal Responsibilities
Internal Audit Activities
- Ensure that all relevant information relating to the area of responsibility is collected and transmitted to the line manager in a timely manner
- Conduct Interview with auditees to understand the processes and procedures,
- Perform risk assessment
- Carry out work including (but not limited to) testing controls design and operating effectiveness and identifying process improvement, within the defined timeframe following the Africa50 Internal Audit methodology to ensure that both the audit objectives and the quality standards are met and prepare the audit files
- Draft findings including observations, potential impact, root causes and recommendations.
Documentation
- Preparing work papers to ensure that the audit objectives and the quality standards are met and working papers or audit files are maintained as per Internal Audit methodology.
Corrective Actions
- Carry out the periodic follow-ups on recommendations and report on status of implementation for action by auditees.
Reports
- Assist Line Manager in developing audit observations and suitable recommendations to be included in draft reports.
Candidate Profile
Required background
- Business School / University degree in Accounting, Auditing, or related field
- CPA and/or CIA preferred
Fluent in English (French is a plus)
Prior experience in internal or external audit on investment banking/private equity and/or strategic consulting, infrastructure fund, transaction advisory
Previous private equity experience is preferred, but not required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Interest in Africa50’s mission, strategy and values
Demonstrated interest / experience in emerging markets, and specifically Africa
Chartered accountant or Top Business School
CIA and CISA is a plus
Strong excel and data management knowledge
- Understanding of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR)
Strong financial modeling and company valuation
Strong knowledge on IFRS, COSO, Corporate OF Corporate governance like SOX, King III
Strong analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English, French a plus)
Strong inter-personal skills, ability to interact effectively with partners and colleagues
Culturally sensitive, able to relate to people of diverse backgrounds
Already located in Casablanca is a plus
Duration and Location
The position will be based in Casablanca.
3-month internship offered.
