During a high-level Ministerial Roundtable organized by International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Africa50 CEO Alain Ebobissé advocated that while Africa is committed to reach its climate goals, it must be allowed to leverage less-polluting fuels like natural gas, which can serve as a transition fuel to net zero.

The discussions featured the Ministers of Energy or Environment of: Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Zimbabwe, DRC, Nigeria as well as from the United Nations, the African Union, and CEOs of various multinationals.

During the meeting IRENA launched its latest report developed in collaboration with the African Development Bank – Renewable Energy Market Analysis: Africa and its Regions.
