Albert Mugo
Director
Albert Mugo is a Senior Advisor at Virunga Power, a consultant on energy, management, and leadership with Rezonate Networks Ltd. Mr. Mugo has over 39 years of experience in the energy sector, including 10 years in operations and maintenance of power systems and over 20 years in planning and development of the generation and transmission of electricity supply. From 2008-2017 he held senior positions at Kenya Electricity Generating Company, the largest power producer in Kenya, serving as Managing Director & CEO from 2014 to 2017. As Business Development and Strategy Director, he spearheaded several major projects, including 120 MW Kipevu III power plant in Mombasa and over 370 MW of geothermal capacity development in Olkaria between 2008 and 2013. Previously, he worked at the Kenya Pipeline Company and Kenya Power and Lighting Company for twenty eight years, where he rose to the position of Chief Engineer in Corporate Planning and later became Power System Development Manager.
Mr. Mugo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration degree in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi.
