Senior Risk Coordinator

Description

The Senior Risk Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Senior Director, Risk to ensure that risks in the Africa50 Group are properly identified, measured, monitored, reported, and managed to help protect and grow the business.

Principal Responsibilities

The Senior Risk Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of the overall risk strategy and policy and ensure risk taken by the Group is consistent with the Enterprise Risk Management framework and risk strategy
  • Contribute to the Enterprise Risk Management framework and the risk strategy of Africa50
  • Support the Risk team in reviewing and updating risk and risk-related policies
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the Enterprise Risk Management framework, tools, practices, and policies to identify, measure, report, monitor and manage enterprise risks
  • Support the Risk team in ensuring that the organization's risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with applicable regulations and the strategic imperatives of the Group
  • Support the Risk team in conducting risk assessments, identifying, measuring, analyzing, and providing insights on strategic, financial, and operational risks
  • Implement Compliance, AML / KYC / CFT (together, “IDD”) procedures, including participation in investee company/investor/LP reviews and providing IDD approvals required at the various stages of the project cycle
  • Respond to IDD requests made of the Africa50 Group by other institutions and work closely with the investment team in responding to IDD issues/questions
  • Monitor, analyze and aggregate risks within the organization and report on these risks to the Senior Director, Risk
  • Develop risk dashboards and risk reports to provide information, analysis and insights to risk owners, Business Units, and the Senior Leadership Team to monitor, mitigate and manage risks
  • Support due diligence exercises related to investment into Businesses Units, Funds and Platforms of the Group
  • Support the Risk team in implementing compliance with risk policies, procedures, and controls consistent with the risk appetite of the Group and Business Units.
  • Support the implementation of the internal control framework and proactively identify and implement internal control improvements
  • Assist the Risk team with the co-ordination and implementation of internal audit work
  • Assist in implementing education and training to ensure employees have adequate awareness and understanding of the overall risk strategy, the Enterprise Risk Management framework, other risk-related Africa50 policies and internal control standards
  • Work with the Senior Director, Risk to build a strong risk awareness culture in Africa50
  • Contribute to building an environment that is conducive to discussing risk at all staff levels throughout the organization
  • Monitor and share risk management developments in similar organizations
  • Stay abreast of industry practices and knowledge

Required background

  • At least a Bachelors’ degree in a Financial, Scientific, Mathematical, Engineering or Economics background. An honours degree would be an advantage
  • Minimum 7 to 8 years experience with knowledge and deep understanding of risk management in an investment management, development finance, private equity, or investment banking environment
  • Good knowledge of macro-economics and finance

  • Fluent in English. French is a plus
  • Strong relationship with Africa - whether it be origin or a demonstrated long-term interest/commitment.  Existing relationships in Africa will be a plus

Role location

The role will be based in Casablanca, Morocco.
