Fundamentals

The new terminal will have a capacity of one million passengers a year, about twice its current capacity (traffic to be reached by 2031). Phase 1 of the project, estimated at €120 million, begun in 2020. 

Africa50's Role


Africa50 acquired 33% equity stake in Société de Gestion de l’Aéroport de Gbessia (SOGEAG), the airport concessionaire.

SOGEAG is owned by the Government of Guinea, Africa50 and ADP.

Development Impact

  • The modernization of the airport should have a significant development impact, providing higher levels of service and safety for passengers, an and expansion of economic activity. 
  • ICAO Certification is expected to be obtained after completion of the airport.
  • This development dynamic should be especially inclusive, with the creation of direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase, the training and qualification of airport employees, as well as the significant expected benefits in terms of improved economic activity to support the growth of the country.
